Meet Angie and Rihan, the dynamic duo behind the magic of Stay Golden. Their journey began in 2016, when fate brought them together at the very place that would become their shared passion project. Rihan's story traces back to 2014, when he took over his family's guesthouse, Golden Beach, following his father's passing. Originally offering simple accommodation to NGO members after the tsunami, the guesthouse evolved into a haven for travelers seeking solace by the sea. In 2015, Rihan rebranded it as Stay Golden, setting the stage for a new chapter of growth and transformation.
Driven by a desire to create something truly special, Rihan made the bold decision to relocate Stay Golden to a new location south of Main Point in 2019. With 5 cozy cabanas and 2 inviting rooms, Stay Golden radiates warmth and hospitality from every corner. As the family expanded during the challenges of the Covid pandemic, Angie and Rihan welcomed their son, infusing their little slice of paradise with even more love and joy.
For Angie and Rihan, hosting is more than just a livelihood - it's a passion that fuels their every endeavor. With a commitment to enhancing the Stay Golden experience, they strive to make every guest feel like a part of their extended family.
Rihan is the visionary behind Stay Golden, a charismatic surf enthusiast who loves nothing more than swapping stories with travelers from around the globe. His infectious grin, paired with his love for hot rice and curry, sets the tone for a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. As a certified ISA surf instructor, Rihan is always eager to share his passion for the waves with guests.
Angie, on the other hand, brings her empathetic nature and strength to the forefront as she cares for guests with unwavering compassion. Whether it's helping with travel plans or simply lending a sympathetic ear, Angie's warmth and kindness leave a lasting impression on everyone she meets. A certified yoga instructor with 400 hours of training, Angie's love for the practice shines through in the way she created the yoga space, and the way she takes care of an inspiring team of teachers.
Originally from Germany, Angie fell in love not only with Rihan but also with the beauty and charm of Sri Lanka. Together, they are the heart and soul of Stay Golden, weaving a tapestry of memorable experiences for guests to treasure.
