Surf Lesson in Arugam Bay

Experience the enjoyment of surfing under the guidance of our experienced, English-speaking local surf instructor. Our lessons are private, ensuring personalized attention with a maximum of two participants per instructor. Our instructor carefully selects the surf spot based on current natural conditions such as swell, wave size, weather, and the amount of people in the water.

While Arugam Bay offers fantastic opportunities for surfing, diving into the water without proper knowledge can be risky. Surfing is a challenging sport that requires technique, understanding of water etiquette, and familiarity with local conditions. Our lessons provide a safe and supportive environment for learning and progression.

Our surf lessons are suitable for individuals who have never surfed before and want to give it a try; have some surfing experience but need a refresher or guidance; seek local insight and guidance to explore the best surf spots; or are ready to take their surfing skills to the next level.

THINGS TO NOTE

The best time for a lesson is preferably in the (early) morning or (late) afternoon to meet optimal conditions.
In general, you can have a surf lesson all day long.
A lycra shirt to protect your skin from the sun, equipment (surfboard and leash), and transportation to the surf spot are included.
Duration of the lesson is approximately 90 minutes, including transportation.
Our instructor will explain some theory and facilitate dry runs on the sand before entering the water.
With hands-on support, you'll experience the enjoyment of riding waves and may even find yourself standing on the board.
The current rate is 8,000 LKR per person per lesson.
Discounts only apply for a multiple lessons pass (5 or more lessons, confirmed in advance).
Special surf lessons tailored for kids are available; the only requirement is that children have basic swimming skills before participating in lessons. At Stay Golden, we have various boards in different sizes, suitable for kids of all ages.
